How to Install Led Headlight Bulbs in 2011 Nissan Altima

Today what we're going to do is we're going to install the new H11 LED bulbs headlight. And I'm going to put these in my wife's car, it's a 2011 Nissan Altima. These lights are the H11 bulb which is the low beam. In the kit what you're going to get is two LEDs, LED drivers and then plug-and-play adapters. So these are real simple, they just connect to the plug and play, connect to here and then this will connect to the car. So real simple, we're going to do that in a second.

I'm going to thing with these Nissan Altima. In order to replace the headlight bulbs, you don't have to take the entire headlight assembly out. What you can do which is to go in under and basically to do that and try to get light under here.

You're just going to remove four or five of little plugs right here kind of screw type things to hold this splash guard. In place by the tire so what you're going to do is you're going to remove those. There's a couple more down here and you're gonna remove those, and that will give you access to the light bulb.

Let's just plug them together so I can get this in frame for you line up the notches. You'll plug it together and then just screw it down, tighten it up. And then you have your plug-and-play a connector and just going to attach that. It's going to attach to your new LED light and it's going to clip

There it's gonna clip in place and you'll hear it clip in. Now all you have to do is you just have to put this back into the hole, you'll twist it, put it in the hole and you twist it clockwise, lock it into place and then you'll hook this back up to the car. Wiring harness and test your lights out.

So finally got in there and as you can tell it is on. We won't really know how well it looks until the nighttime. Now all I have to do is put all the screws and stuff back in place and fix that wire hanging down. And button everything back up to the other side.

Beware of Fake Luxeon ZES LED Headlight – Big potential danger to your car

Lumileds Luxeon ZES (once belonged to Philips) is a high power 1.6mm * 2.0mm LED that enables never before seen color consistency, luminance, flux density and design flexible for lighting solution, Because of its simple inner structure (No alloy wire between chip and holder) and special package process (Chip Scale Package), this led has lower defective rate than all other SMD. Beside, ZES LED has small size but high luminance，which allow us to make special led array on headlight bulbs to mimic the filament in halogen bulbs – creating a closely matched beam style. In the past one year, ZES LED is the first choice for new developed LED headlight bulbs.

But fake product surely will come if there is huge market demand. Recently, we have found there is fake Luxeon ZES LED made by unknown brand in China. This fake LED is completely copied Luxeon ZES LED with same shape and similar appearance. Some Chinese LED headlight manufacturer s have began to use this fake LED to replace Lumileds ZES on their headlight bulbs but still named Lumileds Luxeon ZES LED headlight bulbs. We should be aware of this behavior.

Although fake ZES LED looks like the real one, we still can notice two differences between them.

• Different on this place with red mark in picture , that is the resistor on LED, the resistor on Lumileds ZES LED is wider than fake LED. As their sizes are obviously different, it is easy to distinguish between them in this way.

• Different color, if two LEDS have same color temperature, for example, 6500K,  real Lumileds ZES LED has deeper yellow surface than fake one.

There is big difference in price between these two LED. The price of one piece of real ZES LED could be the total amount of dozen piece of fake ZES LEDS.  That is why now led headlight kit with Lumileds ZES could be cheaper and cheaper. Same H4 headlight bulb to ours with 16 pieces of ZES LEDS, Some companies could sell it with 16USD per set, or even cheaper. But this kind of fake led headlight has real high potential danger.

• Real ZES LED is expensive, most of manufacturers will make them on led headlight bulbs with high quality electronic component and IC driver to make sure that this led headlight bulbs won’t be high defective during the warranty period. If LED headlights are broken quickly, ZES LEDS will be wasted and unrecyclable, manufacturer should compensate buyer with a new kit and will lose lots of money.
• On the contrary, fake ZES LED is not valuable, manufacturer could make them with terrible quality electronic component, or even recyclable capacitors and IC driver. If do in this way, they can get high profit on each kit. Although each kit is broken during the warranty period, they can ship client a new kit for compensation but still have enough profit on this order. But for the clients, they get hurt so much, lose the brand reputation and hard to get back.

So please inspect carefully on your ZES led headlight bulbs, don’t be cheated because of low price. Thing is always cheap for a reason.

Audi Q5 Retrofit Fog Light with Cree OEM Type LED Fog Lamp

Audi Q5 original headlight has good spotlight and long distance of radiation. This headlight work wonderful while running on highway, driver can see clearly what it is in 50 meters away. But the lighting is not bright enough within 5 meters. On the way from office to my house, A section of road pavement is particularly poor, very bumpy, I need to drive carefully to avoid some pits on the road. In this situation, Audi Q5 original headlight offer limited lighting. I have to turn on both front fog lights to supply lighting to road pavement.

This is a OEM fog lamp kit for Audi Q5, it has same plug with original fog light and can directly replace it. 2800 Lumen, double brighter than the original one. I see it isn’t too expensive but is really helpful to improve my fog light performance. So I decide to install this kit on my car.

This is the packing. I can see a row of led lights inside it.

This screw and spring are used for adjusting the beam angle.

Remove the fog light cover, there are three snap on the top middle, bottom middle, left side middle. But on right side middle of cover, they are two pieces of tongues, not snap.

Remove the fog light. There are two screws on the top middle and bottom middle. Loose the screw and pull out the fog light. Disconnect the fog light plug, install the new fog lamp.

After installation, please don’t be hurry to install the cover back. Test the new fog light kit, adjust the beam angle until the lighting is being cool.

This is the right lighting effect of new OEM fog light.

Turn on original low beam headlight only.

Turn on new OEM fog light + low beam headlight.

Turn on new OEM fog light + high beam headlight.

This fog light is spotlight and not shine.

The Simplest Way to DIY LED Scanner Turn Signal Light on Volkswagen LAVIDA

I always love led scanner light, like the original turn signal light of Ford Mustang, that is really awesome.

Sometimes I am thinking if it is possible to modify a led scanner light on my Volkswagen LAVIDA, but there is no many led headlamp housings made for LAVIDA on the market, and sadly most of them are created for adding LED DRL function, no scanner light.

So I am thinking a simple way to achieve scanner light function. Then I find it is possible to fix a led strip light into the taillight, powered it by turn signal light wires, make it light up while I turn on the turn signal light and show scanner effect. That is my idea, it succeed by my DIY and looks cool, please see my practice and the final effect.

Volkswagen Bora Upgrading LED Daytime Running Light

Everyone say Bora original DRL is ugly. But similar to Golf, it is very easy to replace Bora original DRL. How to do it? You can just refer to my article Upgrading Golf 7 LED Daytime Running Light.

The Difference is Golf 7 with DRL light on the right of headlight bulb, while Bora wit DRL light on the downside of headlight bulb. When replacing the bulbs on Bora, small hand could be much easier to stick in and rotate the original DRL adapter, get the bulb out.

The whole replacing process takes nearly 15min. DRL lighting improve so much. Here I recommend you cool blue LED daytime running light, compared to yellow Incandescent light, cool blue led DRL seem to stand out a lot.
