This high level voltage (sometimes up to 25 000 volts) creates a super powerful electric arc within the lamp. The xenon headlamps are also easily recognizable blue or purple reflect their light.

Maintenance costs of this lighting system, however, can be problematic. Although xenon headlights are very durable and long lasting, when broken, the replacement costs are very high.

Indeed, a xenon light can cost up to 10 times more expensive than a halogen bulb.
